Its wire coil is actuated by a smaller current from the ignition switch, at which time the iron core slams down to make contact and turn on the starter motor. Most non-Ford starter motors employ a solenoid built into the motor itself. This type of solenoid not only provides the motors electrical power but also mechanically engages the starters drive gear onto the flywheel.

Before cutting out damaged wires, make sure that the colour coding is the same at each end of the damaged section of each wire, and that it is not so discoloured that it is unrecognisable. If there is any chance of confusion, label both ends.

Push a screwdriver blade through the grommet carefully to enlarge it for the new cables, taking care not to damage insulation on existing wires. If you pass a cable through a new hole, fit the hole with a grommet. To pass wires up door pillars or behind trim, tape them to a piece of fairly stiff wire, poke it carefully behind the trim or up the pillar, and pull it through at the far end, bringing the wire with it.

Due to their non-standard dimensions, the oddly shaped, thin, or fragile boards do not fit properly in the reflow, component placement, or other standard processing machines. Lack of adequate support and alignment may strain, bend or damage the fragile boards as they go through the processing system. In addition, this may impact the accuracy of the process.

Generally, the fixture materials, which range from synthetic plastics and stones to aluminum alloys and epoxy glass, should be electrostatic neutral, and able to withstand repeated thermal cycles and chemicals without deforming or wear. In particular, the thin fixtures provide better thermal management.

They are usually mounted on a circuit board like a servo motor with a gear box. They spin very fast and have to be geared down like a brushed dc motor. They are different than a brushed dc motor in that they are stronger, more efficient and last longer. They can be matched to a wider variety of propellers or loads by adjusting the gearing.

Splices may be used within 30cm of a termination device when attaching to the pigtail spare lead of a potted termination device, to splice multiple wires to a single wire, or to adjust the wire sizes so that they are compatible with the contact crimp barrel sizes.

On the high end are precision industrial components that use a rotary encoder. On the low end are inexpensive radio control servos (RC servos) used in radio-controlled models which use a free-running motor and a simple potentiometer position sensor with an embedded controller. The term servomotor generally refers to a high-end industrial component while the term servo is most often used to describe the inexpensive devices that employ a potentiometer. Stepper motors are not considered to be servomotors, although they too are used to construct larger servomechanisms. Stepper motors have inherent angular positioning, owing to their construction, and this is generally used in an open-loop manner without feedback. They are generally used for medium-precision applications.
