Test each mended wire with a circuit tester and battery, connected to the nearest connectors either side of the mend. Re-wrap the exposed section of the loom with self-adhesive or "clingfilm" PVC insulating tape. Put some layers between the exposed section and adjoining wires - not merely a cover over the top - then fit the loom back into the car. Reconnect all terminals and clips, then test all the electrical components involved.

Before cutting out damaged wires, make sure that the colour coding is the same at each end of the damaged section of each wire, and that it is not so discoloured that it is unrecognisable. If there is any chance of confusion, label both ends.

On the high end are precision industrial components that use a rotary encoder. On the low end are inexpensive radio control servos (RC servos) used in radio-controlled models which use a free-running motor and a simple potentiometer position sensor with an embedded controller. The term servomotor generally refers to a high-end industrial component while the term servo is most often used to describe the inexpensive devices that employ a potentiometer. Stepper motors are not considered to be servomotors, although they too are used to construct larger servomechanisms. Stepper motors have inherent angular positioning, owing to their construction, and this is generally used in an open-loop manner without feedback. They are generally used for medium-precision applications.

Magnets are attached on the inside of the can that spins with the shaft .. sort of like a spinning umbrella. All brushless motors have a spinning umbrella. Inside the umbrella is a permanent magnet. It looks like one continuous round magnet. However it is more like series of magnets.

Most computer controlled DC motors are pulsed. Pulses of a fixed voltage are sent to the motor, usually by an Electronic Speed Controller or ESC. A pulse of 1.5 ms causes no motion. Wider pulses cause faster spinning in one direction. Shorter pulses cause faster spinning in the opposite direction. Eventually, an overstressed ESC stops pulsing and turns one wire on and one wire off, depending on the direction.

The electronics in the ESC pulses the motor to tell it is initial direction and some other feed back system humans using RC or an autopilot reading accelerometers or gyros adjusts the speed.

Such solenoids operate in three stages, the disengaged, partially engaged and engaged. In the disengaged position the drive gear is released and no current is flowing. In the partially engaged stage, current from the starter switch flows through both the pull-in and the hold-in coils.

This wire is flexible enough to be used on straights, curves and hills. The vehicles are fitted with a motorised chassis and rechargeable battery which pushes the vehicle forwards via a small motor and gear arrangement, following the guide wire. The magnet offset to one side on the chassis is what activates the various additional modules (more on those later).
